Veganism Product Team Debate 2012

The product team has been debating and needs you to weigh in...

Black & White vs Shades of Grey

Are there degrees of veganism?

We’ve been working away offering the best in vegan friendly nutrition, health, and beauty products. We are considering new products and need your thoughts on the degrees of veganism. Go ahead, be honest. Our feelings won’t be hurt. Tell us what you think in our super short, delightful five (5) question survey. Go ahead and click below; you might learn something too.

Degrees of Veganism?

There are multiple degrees of vegetarianism, including some levels that do not eat meat but do eat byproducts such as diary. A vegan excludes animal products or byproducts from their lifestyle. A hardcore vegan does not use anything made from animals (like leather coats).

Arbor Day

“Each generation takes the earth as trustees. We ought to bequeath to posterity as many forests and orchards as we have exhausted and consumed.”
~J. Sterling Morton

To exist as a nation, to prosper as a state, and to live as a people, we must have trees."

Happy Easter

This spring holiday weekend marks both Easter and the beginning of Passover. Both holidays mean family gatherings and lots of food and sweet treats. No matter if you are Vegan, Vegetarian, or an Omnivore shake up traditional meals with new flavors and healthier options.

Remember, proper nutrition includes getting your micro nutrients (vitamins and trace minerals). Eat your veggies and fruits with every meal and add a multivitamin with minerals to supplement when you don't.

Vegan Valentine's Day

PlantlifeGive the gift of love this Valentine's Day with a selection from the Plantlife collection. Plantlife Natural Body Care products are a blend herbology and aromatherapy. The spa kits come complete with scented soap, ramie (soap sack), bath salts, and aromatherapy massage oil. Most people just present gifts to their loved one but a clever vegan gives a gift for mutual bliss.

Simply place your favorite Plantlife Soap or Soap Grains in the Ramie Sack and wash everything clean. The Aromatherapy Bar Soap lathers and fills the air with fresh clean scents like vanilla orange, sandalwood, lemongrass, peppermint, mint, or lavender. Use the oil to massage the body promoting improved circulation and overall relaxation. The novice masseuse should work their hands to the recipient's heart in smooth fluid circular motions on the body's large muscle groups such as the back and legs. The oil should also be applied to moist skin after bathing for natural skin moisture restoration.

The gift sets are all cruelty free. Happy Valentine's Day!

New Year, Healthier You - Update

Happy New Year! Just checking in on our active vegan new year's resolutioners. The key to staying motivated no matter if you goals are to eat healthier, lose weight, improve your overall physical fitness level, or start a plant based diet in 2012 VeganVita.com is here for you!

If you are starting a new habit of regular exercise, be sure to start slow. We learned to crawl before we could run and it won't hurt you to follow a similar approach. If you are already beyond the casual jogger and can run a marathon then boost your abilities with regular protein. Try Amazing Meal by Amazing Grass and yes it does include green grass goodness in every serving along with protein, antioxidant fruits, and vegan probiotic cultures. Chocolate flavor is also available by the generous organic red dutch cocoa.

If you are working towards being a casual jogger, work in some short barefoot training sessions per week to improve your core balance and avoid future injuries when you graduate to marathon distances or racing pace.

runningshoes.org/running-barefoot/<<< Look Here!

Search "barefoot running" on YouTube to see how to use proper form or just jog in place during your favorite 30 minute TV show landing only on the forward part of your feet.

Red means stop and green means go. Notice in the illustration (http://runningshoes.org/running-barefoot/) and after your own experimentation that you actually get a lot of feedback from your feet and will start to shorten your stride and land on the forward balls and toes of your feet which is how our skeleton and muscles are built to propel us along. Our vegan staffers regularly mix in barefoot running to keep the 200,000 nerve endings, 33 major muscles, 28 bones, and 19 ligaments working seamlessly in harmony. Don't throw your shoes out, train smart, and mix this in for improved core strength and toned legs.

Plant based diet is just a another label for vegan eat'n. Check out this artful display from veganfoodpyramid.com to see just how much variety exists in a balanced plant based diet.

Proper nutrition includes getting your micro nutrients (vitamins and trace minerals). Eat your veggies and fruits with every meal and add a multivitamin with minerals to supplement when you don't. Check out Freeda Vitamin's Quintabs-M with iron for your once-a-day multivitamin and mineral supplement.

Get outside and keep moving people.

New Year, Healthier You

A quick internet search of common New Year's resolutions almost always include:

  1. Losing Excess Weight
  2. Eating Healthy
  3. Improving Physical Fitness

Our staffers are not exempt from some or all these goals. Remember, the key to sustaining a behavioral change means keeping the habit for 21 consecutive days. Veganvita.com is here to help support you whether you are starting new goals or continuing to lose excess weight, eat healthier, or just improve your level of physical fitness.

Here's the simple math: 2 + 1 = 3.  Simply put, eating healthy automatically leads to excess weight loss and improves your baseline level of fitness. Vegans and vegetarians alike already now that a plant based diet is the foundation of healthy eating.

Step 1. Add some greens to your diet and subtract processed foods. Not only will you be eating healthier but the scale will be proof to you of your excess weight loss journey. An easy way to make the change is as simple as a scoop of Amazing Grass Green Supperfood Raw Reserve mixed in water, your favorite juice, or smoothie.  Each serving supplies over 25 billion probiotics and whole organic superfoods including algaes, cereal grasses, sea vegetables to name a few. The nutritional facts below list all the green goodies.

Step 2. Start moving! Yes walking counts.  As little as 30 minutes a day of physical activity will improve circulation, tone your body, and elevate your mental state. If you are moderately in shape or better than average, start a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) program. Search the web for yourself or start with this article from Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-intensity_interval_training. The concept is simple, push yourself to a level of physical exertion where your heart rate is significantly elevated and you are getting sweaty. This can be as easy as sprinting 4 quarter mile repeats with 1 to 3 minutes of walking in between. Studies (see Wiki article) indicate that your body's metabolism remains in a boosted state as long as 24 hours after the workout which is not true of any endurance type exercise. Workout sessions may be as short as 10 minutes and still have the 24 hour elevated metabolism benefit. Training this hard warrants some supplemental protein. Click here for the full line of plant based offerings by Veganvita.com and drink your way to a slimmer, leaner, stronger you.

Step 3. Stay with it for 21 days and consider the change permanent. Don't get hung up on being perfect either. A few mistakes along the way is part of the process and journey.

Whatever your goals are, make a plan and enjoy yourself on the path to a healthier you.
